Features of the 1925 watchman's watch or night watchman's watch
Characteristics:
Brand: Controlex SA
Swiss Made
Ref. No.: 49948
Aluminum
Printing paper disc
Manual winding watch
Antiquity: Circa 1925
Observations and notes: Beautiful antique round clock. Watch clocks keep a printed record by means of a key that is inserted into the piece and generates a coded perforation (key) on a paper or cardboard disk.
To prevent the interested party from manipulating the disk (opening the clock and setting the time back or forward) there is a blade that cuts the paper every time the cover is opened (it is on the cover) so that it could be seen if the clock had been opened.
History: In the second half of the 19th century, a new category of mechanical clocks emerged for the surveillance and security sector of buildings and facilities, which reached its peak in the first third of the last century.
These units, equipped with cutting-edge technology for the time and developed in Germany, soon became an object of daily use among the caretakers and security guards of institutions and factories who used them during their night and day rounds.
