1. Two (2) Civil War Artillery Bridle Rosettes (Matched Pair)
• Insignia: Stamped with a prominent, classic 1860s serifed capital letter "A" for the Artillery branch.
• Function: Affixed to the leather headstall of heavy draft horses/mules tasked with hauling field cannons, limbers, and caissons.
2. Two (2) Non-Regulation / Teamster Brass Harness Boss Plates (Matching Pair)
• Dimensions: Approx. 2.6" wide by 2" high each.
• Design: Plain, rectangular face featuring elegant scalloped corners.
• Mounting: Reverse side features 4 heavy-duty mounting pins/posts on each plate.
• History: Due to severe gear shortages during the Civil War—especially within Confederate forces and frontline Union supply trains—civilian contractor harnesses and plain hardware were widely pressed into military service. Finding these plates with the official "A" rosettes strongly indicates they served as a complete set of rugged teamster wagon pieces for the same artillery unit.
